Warm, lovely, genuine, caring, friendly, sunny, generous, sensitive, sincere, popular, funny, open, honest, genuine, happy go lucky, smiley, well loved, ‘she took me under her wing’, ‘she made me feel welcome’, ‘a good listener’, ‘she was full of fun’ are just some of the many words phrases people have used to describe Nettie in the countless sympathy cards and in conversations I’ve had over the last couple of weeks. She was indeed all of them and more. I feel immensely proud to have known and loved such a person who was so well liked and loved by so many people. If you look around this church now you will see how much she meant to so many people. I’d like to thank everyone for all their cards and letters, kind comments and support over the last couple of weeks. It’s amazing to know, and makes me feel very proud, as to how many people actually knew and loved my wife. One of things we always joked about is that wherever she went she always bumped into somebody she knew. One of her very many qualities were her warmth and amazing likeability factor. Wherever she lived or worked, she always collected a number of really good friends along the way, very many of which are here today. Nettie was very much a caring woman, full of love. She loved her family. Her family were her life. There’s nothing more she liked than just the four of us going out and having fun each Sunday. Our two beautiful children, Hannah and Abbie, and her husband were paramount in every thought and everything she did. She was a fantastic natural mum and would do anything for her children, absolutely anything. Hannah and Abbie absolutely adored her and still do. She loved her mum, dad, (Keith and Liz) and sisters (Elaine and Yvonne) and brother (Paul). Always taking an interest in what they were up to and offering them love and support. She loved Margaret and Gordon her mother and father in law. She also loved and enjoyed swapping stories and spending time with her many friends. She especially loved spending time with, and going on family breaks with our close friends, Cassie and Tony, Emma and Mike, Debbie and Ali and Helen and Jason. She also loved coming to church and giving up her time to get involved in church and school activities. She also loved her job. Her ‘dream job’ as she put it. Working in Mossley Hill nursery with Elaine and Saiqa. Some people go through life and never find the love, happiness and contentment I’ve had over the last 15 years. Although my feelings at the moment are of overwhelming sadness, I feel privileged that she chose to spend her life with me, to make me her husband, to give me all those happy memories, and to give me two beautiful children. My Net, I can feel you guiding me and giving me strength. Our lovely beautiful brave children are your greatest legacy and I will never let their memories of your love diminish nor let them forget the many happy times we all had together. Goodbye my wonderful wife. You are in my heart always. Love, Pete. I finally once again would like to thank everyone for their good wishes and support. It really is appreciated. Please feel free to come to the British Legion on Rose Lane this afternoon to share your memories of my beautiful Net.
